Ingredients

  • 2 cup - toor dal
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric
  • Salt as per taste
  • For tadka:
  • 1 - tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 3 or 4 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 - red chilli
  • 2 tsp - ghee
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • A pinch - asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 pods - garlic
  • Coriander leaves - a few sprigs

How to Make Tasty Dal Tadka

  • Pressure cook the dal with turmeric and salt .
  • The dal should not be mushy
  • Take a non stick vessel and add ghee, cumin seeds and red chilli
  • After the seeds splutter add asafoetida
  • Then add the onion and fry till it turns brown
  • Then add green chillies and garlic and fry them for a minute.
  • Add chilly powder and then tomato, cook for sometime.
  • Add the cooked dal, fry for 4 to 5 mins
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve it with rotis/rice.
