Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg - French beans (you can also use string beans, carrots, palak, spring onions, red palak, okras etc.)
  • 1 - medium onion
  • 2-3 - green chillies
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 1 pinch - jeera powder
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 2 -red dry chillies
  • 4 - 5 - curry leaves

How to Make Thoran

  • Chop the vegetables, onion and green chillies.
  • Add the grated coconut and jeera powder to this mixture and mix all.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds in the oil.
  • When the seeds splutter, add dry chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add the vegetable in the mixture and mix well.
  • Pour a little water and close the lid.
  • Cook for 8 -10 minutes in low flame. Serve with rice.
