Ingredients

  • 1 cup - toor dal (washed and soaked for 1 - 2 hours in hot water)
  • 1 cup - spinach leaves, chopped
  • 1 - tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger - garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp - lime juice
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera
  • a pinch of hing (asafetida)
  • 2 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Toor Dal Palak

  • Cook toor dal until is 3/4 cooked.
  • Then add spinach leaves, onion, tomato, salt, turmeric powder, ginger - garlic paste and hing.
  • Cook everything until done.
  • In a frying pan, heat oil and add all the remaining ingredients (except lime juice) and pour it over the cooked dal.
  • Next, add the lime juice and mix it well.
  • Serve hot with chapattis or rice.
