Ingredients

  • Wheat rava - 1 cup
  • Chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, capsicum, onions) - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 4.
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves and grated coconut to garnish
  • Sugar - 1/4 tsp
  • Tomatoes chopped - 2
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Channa dal - 1 tsp
  • Cashews - 8

How to Make Traditional Vegetable Upma

  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  • When it crackles, add channa dal and cashews.
  • When done, add chopped green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add the vegetables and onions.
  • Add salt and sugar and cook the vegetables till done on a low flame under cover.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft.
  • Add water and bring to a boil.
  • Stir in the rava and cook.
  • When the water begins to reduce, lower the flame and cook under cover for 5 mins.
  • Before serving, add ghee and garnish with coriander and grated coconut.
