Ingredients

  • moong da- 1/2 cup
  • channa dal- 1/2 cup
  • sabuth or whole udad dal - 1 cup
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1 piece
  • ghee or oil - 3 tbsp
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • jeera powder - 1 tsp
  • garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • ginger - 1 pinch
  • onion - 3 (1 chopped finely)
  • garlic - 5 flakes
  • green chilly - 1 no (slit lengthwise)
  • tomatoes - 3, medium sized
  • coriander leaves
  • salt to taste

How to Make Tridev Dhal

  • Grind 2 onions, garlic, tomatoes, ginger into smooth paste. Pressure cook dal in enough water with turmeric powder. Chop tomatoes.
  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan season with cumin seeds and chopped onions, green chilli, cinnamon.
  • Stir till it turns golden.
  • Add cooked dal, ground masala paste, salt and add little water.
  • Add chilli powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder.
  • Cook well. Garnish with green coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with roti, naan and rice.
