Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - rice
  • 100 g - channa dal
  • 100 g - urad dal
  • 3 - chillies
  • A small piece ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 - grated coconut

How to Make Tumbler Idli

  • Soak rice and channa dal together. Soak urad dal separately for an hour. Grind them separately.
  • Mix both the batters thoroughly, adding salt.
  • Keep aside for about 6 hours.
  • At the time of preparation, grind chillies, ginger, cumin seeds together and add to the dough.
  • Add grated coconut to the dough.
  • Grease tumblers with oil.
  • Fill half of the tumblers with dough and now steam them in an idli cooker.
  • This goes well with green chutney.
