  • 1 cup - rava
  • 1.5 cups - water
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • 1 - small onion
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 2 tsp - gram dal
  • 1-2 - red chillies
  • 2 tsp - butter
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • Few cashew nuts and raisins

How to Make Upma

  • In a frying pan heat ghee. When hot, put mustard seeds, urad dal, gram dal, cashew nuts, raisins, red chillies, curry leaves and onions. Fry for 2-3 minutes, then add rava, fry till rava turns slightly pinkish.
  • In another vessel, heat water, when water starts Boiled, add it to the rava mixture, stir constantly and let upma cook.
  • After water dries, cover vessel for 2 minutes. Close the gas. Just before serving add butter.
