Ingredients

  • 1 - raw banana/vazhakai
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • To grind:
  • 2 tbsp - coconut
  • 1/2 inch piece - ginger
  • 4 to 5 pieces - garlic
  • 2 to 3 tsp - pepper

How to Make Vazhakai Pepper Chops

  • First cut the raw banana lengthwise like finger chips.
  • Half boil it in water.
  • Then marinate it with salt, chilli and turmeric powder and allow it to sit for 15 mins.
  • Grind the ingredients under grinding 'to grind' to a fine paste with minimum water.
  • Add oil, then mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  • Now add the raw banana and saute for 3 mins .
  • Next add the ground paste, and a little more salt if needed.
  • Fry well till all is combined well.
  • Sprinkle a little water and leave it closed for 2 mins to cook thoroughly.
  • Open lid and saute until roasted well.
  • Take off heat and serve with curd rice.
