Ingredients

  • 3 - onion
  • 2 tsp - urad dal
  • 2 tsp - channa dal
  • 4 - dry red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp - tamarind paste
  • 2 tsp - oil

How to Make Vengaya Thugayal (Onion Chutney)

  • Fry the dals and the red pepper in 1/2 tsp oil until it gets roasted and keep it aside.
  • Cut the onion and simmer in the remaining oil until it becomes transparent.
  • Grind the roasted dals, onion, tamarind paste, and salt into a paste.
  • Serve it with puri, chappathi, rice, dosa and idli.
