You can add the required quantity of water to maintain the consistency. Verkadalai Thogayal is simple to make and serves as a perfect accompaniment to idli, dosa, upma and even rice.

  • Groundnut-1/4 cup
  • Cumin-1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds-1 tsp
  • Shallots-6
  • Tamarind-a small bit
  • Green Chillies-2
  • Red chilles-2
  • Oil-1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Verkadalai Thogayal (Chutney with Roasted Groundnuts)

  • In a pan, add oil followed by cumin and coriander seeds. Add shallots, then red and green chillies. Fry well.
  • Dry roast groundnuts in a pan and with your hands rub them to remove skin. You can easily blow the skins away.
  • Add the fried coriander seeds, cumin and shallot mixture in a blender. Also add roasted groundnuts. Add tamarind and salt along with it. Grind nicely.
  • If required you can add a little bit of water. Easy to make Verkadalai Thogayal is ready!
