  • ½ kg. semolina
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup orange blossom water
  • ¼ cup rose water
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp. yeast
  • 1 tsp. dried ground cherry
  • 1 cup ground walnuts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 200 gms. butter

How to Make Walnut Maamoul

  • Combine flour with semolina, butter, orange blossom water, rose water and dried ground cherry.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to mixture.
  • Pat mixture for 10 minutes and set aside for another 15 minutes.
  • In the meantime, mix ground walnuts with sugar and a little orange blossom and rose water.
  • Taking morsels of dough, garnish them with filling and fit in specialized wooden moulds.
  • When the shells are sealed, place in a pan and bake for 10 minutes until golden at 150 degrees C.
  • Remove from oven and dredge with powdered sugar.
