Ingredients

  • 1 - small cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 - slit green chilli
  • 1-2 - yams, peeled and cubed
  • 1 - medium tomato, diced
  • 1 - medium onion - chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - mango powder
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper powder
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - olive oil

How to Make Yam and Cabbage Sabzi

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker or any vessel and fry onions till pink.
  • Add the cumin and cinnamon - fry for 1 min.
  • Add the powder spices and fry well - add very little water if required to avoid burning at the base.
  • Add the tomatoes and cook till mildly soft.
  • Add the cabbage and yam and stir fry for 2 whole minutes.
  • Add salt to taste and 1/4 cup water.
  • Pressure cook up to 1 whistle or cook till the yam is soft and done.
