Ingredients

  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 4 - 5 - dry red chillies
  • 2 tsp - coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - fenugreek
  • 2 tsp - black gram (urad) dal
  • 2 tsp - Bengal gram (channa) dal
  • 2 - 3 - curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • salt
  • For seasoning:
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • few - curry leaves

How to Make Yogurt Saaru

  • Whisk the yogurt till smooth.
  • Add 3 - 4 cups of water, mix well and reserve.
  • Heat the oil and roast all the ingredients from red chillies to curry leaves.
  • Grind the roasted ingredients with coconut to a smooth paste.
  • Mix the paste with yogurt. Add salt.
  • Boil and simmer for 2 - 3 minutes and remove from heat.
  • Heat the oil for seasoning. Add mustard.
  • When it splutters, add curry leaves.
  • Add the seasoning to the saaru and serve hot.
