Ingredients

  • Paneer cubes (cut to squares) - 12 to 15 pieces
  • green peas - 1 cup
  • red bell pepper (finely cut) - 1/2
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • paprika powder - 1/2 tsp
  • onion (finely chopped) - 2 (medium)
  • tomato - 2 (medium)
  • sour cream - 1 tbsp
  • kasoori methi - 1 tbsp
  • oil/ghee - 3 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • For the Paste:
  • onions (roughly chopped) - 2 (medium)
  • cloves - 3 to 4
  • cardamom - 2
  • poppy seeds - 1.5 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1"
  • ginger - 2"
  • garlic - 2 to 3 flakes
  • cashewnuts - 2 tbsp
  • coconut gratings (optional) - 1 tbsp

How to Make Yummy Matar Paneer

  • Heat oil in a pan, add little oil in it. Add the items mentioned for paste and fry very lightly for a few seconds and switch off flame.
  • Add chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and mix well.
  • When it cools down grind to make a smooth paste.
  • Heat about 2 tbsp oil in the saucepan.
  • Fry the finely cut onions till golden.
  • In the meantime, heat a griddle, roughly grease with oil.
  • Place the paneer cubes and fry both sides till golden, and set aside.
  • After the onions turn out golden, add the bell pepper and fry lightly.
  • Then add the blended paste and paprika and fry a couple of minutes.
  • Add the tomato paste and fry for a while.
  • Add peas, salt and cook till the peas are cooked.
  • Then add the paprika powder, sour cream, kasoori methi, mix well.
  • Let cook some more.
  • Turn off and serve hot with rotis or rice.
