Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - split yellow moong dal
  • 1/2 cup - red lentils (masoor dal)
  • 4-5 - garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 - green chillies (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Cilantro to garnish
  • 2 - dried red chillies

How to Make Zero Oil Simple Dal

  • Pre-heat pressure cooker, add minced garlic and dry fry on a low flame till it turns brown. Sprinkle water if it gets stick.
  • Add both dals and 3 cups of water.
  • Add salt and turmeric powder and pressure cook dal till one whistle, turn off the flame.
  • In a pre-heated pan. Dry roast cumin seeds and dried red chillies.
  • Add cooked dal and stir to a boil. Turn off the flame.
  • Sprinkle black pepper and mix.
  • Garnish with cilantro.
